Superfood Supergoo Double Chocolate Healing Brownies (Anti-Inflammatory, Paleo, Celiac)

Brownies. Brownies are probably the most delicious food on this earth. Soft, chocolaty, gooey, warm – need I say more? This farmtofam original recipe is not only full of chocolaty love – but it is also EXTREMELY healthy and healing for your gut and entire body. You’ve heard that corect. These special brownies (not the kind you had in college) are filled with superfoods that promote fighting chronic inflammation caused by the standard American (SAD) diet. A brownie with healing properties – I would challenge anyone on this planet to think of something sweeter.

Let’s dive into some of the ingredients that make these brownies just so super:

Cacao – Cacao has been noted in history back to Mayan civilization for its healing properties. Raw cacao powder has four times the amount of anti-oxidants than traditional dark chocolate. “Protein, calcium, carotene, thiamin, riboflavin, magnesium, sulfur, flavonoids, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids are also present. The precise blend of all these elements combined serve to kick in naturally occurring phytochemicals that have incredible benefits throughout the body, such as lowered LDL cholesterol, improved heart function, and reduced cancer risk.” FoodFacts

TurmericAs you know by know, farmtofam endorses turmeric at the top of out list. Turmeric has been all the rage in natural anti-inflammatory/natural pain relief remedies for the past several years. Finally in the mainstream eyes, turmeric’s benefits are more known than ever. Many local cafe’s have stepped up their game in turmeric as an offering in dishes and smoothies.  Turmeric is no new mystery when it comes to it’s healing benefits. Turmeric residue has been found in pots discovered in New Delhi that were believed to be used for creating medicine dating back to roughly 2500 BCE. Unlike over the counter or prescription medicine, turmeric is shown to have zero negative effects on the body. Not only is turmeric used for it’s anti-inflammatory nature, but has scientific evidence that it protects and promotes the growth of healthy cells.

CoconutPerhaps one of the most delicious superfoods. It’s full of vitamin C, B and E. Rich in potassium and magnesium. Loaded with anti-oxidants. Aids in digestion. Clinically proven to assist in weight loss. Great source of healthy fat. Natural anti-bacterial. It’s simply amazing.

DatesAn overlooked superfood, dates are an extremely effective way to assist in healing your digestive system. Dates are high in fiber, promoting overall digestive health. Like coconut, dates are loaded with magnesium – making them extremely anti-inflammatory overall. They are also loaded with vitamin B6 – an essential brain chemical.

Now that we’ve covered the crucial healing elements of these brownies – let’s show you how to make them!


Topping (optional):

  • 1/4 cup of almond milk
  • 1 bar of Taza chocolate (these are soy free)!
  • Splash of honey or maple syrup


First place the dates and almonds in a bowl together. These will shortly go in your blender/food processor (the Ninja never fails).

Next, place the dates and almonds in a blender/food processor. Blend these together first. Add in raw cacao powder, turmeric, coconut, applesauce, sea salt, and maple syrup and continue blending.

date brownieBlend entire mixture for a 3-4 minutes. You will have to take the lid off every now and then to rearrange mixture to have entire load blended. The mixture will eventually come out to chocolaty, doughy goodness.

Transfer this into a baking pan lined with parchment paper. The parchment paper will prevent the brownies from sticking. Evenly spread batter across the baking pan.

Place the baking pan into 350° oven for ten minutes. Your house will start to smell delicious when they’re almost done.

While the brownies are in the oven, we will make the chocolate frosting. Add Taza dark chocolate bar (or other soy free chocolate) into glass bowl with almond milk and maple syrup/honey. Microwave for 1 minute and 20 seconds.

Remove brownies from oven and frosting from microwave. Place brownies on flat surface and immediately frost. Sprinkle shredded coconut on top and you’re DONE!

Anywhere. Any occasion. Eat them as is or find a creative ice cream sundae style dessert and spoil yourself on a Friday night. These brownies are the most delicious dessert we cook in our kitchen.       Hi Lynn, thanks for stopping by! I can assure you these are as delicious as they look! We don’t count carbs, but I went through the ingredients and feel confident saying the entire dessert is at about 150 carbs. The recipe yields about 12 brownies, depending on your preferred size. If you cut the way we did (we like them large) it’ll be more carbs per serving. Hope that helps! All of the ingredients are listed if you want to go through and check. Again, we don’t count carbs just eat in moderation so it’s just an estimate! Enjoy!
